At St. Columba’s Church we believe that God should be worshipped with tremendous joy and gladness, not with stuffiness and unrelieved boredom! God has done wonderful things for us through Jesus Christ. The worship and praise we offer him, then, is from glad and grateful hearts. In the book of the Prophet Isaiah, Christians are urged to:
Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world (Isaiah 12:5 NLT).
God has done wonderful things, and we want to sing to him our songs of gratitude and thanksgiving.
We don’t have a pipe organ in our church, or an electric one for that matter. Instead, we have a great worship band that is able to play the best hymns of the past, as well as the finest songs of the present from the compositional skills of contemporary Christian hymn and songwriters. We even write a number of our own.
Our band rehearses at the Church every Thursday evening from 6.30-8.00pm, as well as at 9am and at 5pm on Sundays. We are always interested to hear from musicians and singers who want to use their skills and abilities to lead God’s people in worship. We are always pleased to hear from guitarists, keyboard players, bassists and drummers, but we are particularly keen to hear from orchestral musicians and singers. You should be able to play reasonably well, but enthusiasm and commitment are more essential qualities.
Please contact us worshipleader@stcolumbaschurch.org.uk if you would like to be prayerfully considered for this area of Christian service and ministry. We would not normally expect you to offer to help out in this way unless you had been attending St. Columba’s Church for a while and were committed to its growth and development.
